This open silver ring, made of sterling silver was made by us from a spoon handle from 1904. Inside it is engraved with the name "Bess" (Elizabeth). The ring has a beautiful art nouveau floral design in baroque stile.
The spoon was briefely manufactured in 1904 by Mechanics Sterling, Watson Co, and named “Altair”. This is the name of a star that is derived from Arabic, meaning "flying eagle“. The floral patterns are acanthus flowers, which were highly valued as an ornament in the baroque era because of their striking foliage and shape.
The company "Watson Co" was founded in 1874 in Attleboro, Massachusetts, USA.
